too late on the bus

2020-11-01

I was on Bon Jovi’s tour bus. It was like a long school bus, and it was packed full, and we were all part of his acoustic orchestra backup band. I was playing the guitar, and Bon Jovi was walking up and down the aisle singing, while we all played along, practicing for the show.

The bus pulled over to let some people off, and the school principal, who had been sitting at the front of the bus this whole time, stood up to get off too. Apparently she lived near by and sometimes takes the bus home with the students, but she tries to be chill about it.

One of the students, suddenly realizing she was here, runs over to her and says, “Oh, can I ask you a question?” She, making her way toward exiting the bus and going home, answers, “Sorry, it is far too late for that!”

Everybody kind of chuckles at that, and then as she steps off the bus, the bus driver throws the bus into park and unbuckles and stands up, following her, “Oh, but, may I have just a moment?”

And she answers, “Sorry, it is far too late for that!”
