There was a young woman playing a beautiful large black grand piano in the restaurant. You could tell that she didn’t really want to, but she was doing it now, so she was doing it good, playing a really nice piece.

I sat down with her and started playing the left hand piece. She taught it to me, and I did it okay, making only a few mistakes. But then the key changed and I had a hard time keeping up.

She stopped playing, saying it was time to take a break. She went to the bathroom and made a lot of really loud bathroom noises for such a tiny woman, and then came back and began being really strict with me about my technique and my ability to play, and started coaching me on how to get better.
